Profile

Chivas Mays has worked for Stand Up Placer as the Housing Manager for over 7 years and has worked with the domestic violence movement for over 20 years. She serves as the Chairperson on the Placer Consortium on Homelessness and assists with the homeless count. Chivas currently serves as one of the Board of Directors for the Rocklin Chamber of Commerce. She is also trained by the United Way to provide financial coaching for survivors of domestic violence or sexual assault who have encountered financial abuse. Chivas facilitates a Survivors Support Group teaching healthy relationships and strategies for self-sufficiency. She has personal experience as a survivor, which has given her a burning desire to see the survivors she serves overcome barriers, fear, and the stigma associated with being the victim of a crime.

Her personal mantra is, “I enjoy seeing people transition from Victim to Victory! We are not survivors, we are warriors”
