krista@cpedv.org | As the Senior Director of Public Policy for the Partnership, Krista oversees the organization’s legislative, budget, and systems change advocacy. In her nearly twelve years with the Partnership she has successfully advocated for over $100 million in new funding for domestic violence victim services and prevention and secured the passage of legislation to addressing the wide range of issues impacting survivors. Her work touches on economic justice, housing and homelessness, prevention, immigration, and alternatives to the criminal legal system. Krista also served as a mentor for the Women’s Foundation California Solis Policy Institute for seven years, supporting advocates and activists to build their skills, on behalf of their organizations, to influence public policymaking at the state level.  

In addition to her legislative advocacy, Krista supports the HOME cohort of domestic violence organizations which strives improve the safety and economic security of women, children, and gender expansive people across California who are experiencing homelessness due to domestic violence. She represents the Partnership on various state-level committees and task forces, including the Judicial Council’s Violence Against Women Education Project and CalVCB’s Victim Compensation Advisory Committee.

Prior to joining the Partnership, Krista was the Public Policy Coordinator at the National Network to End Domestic Violence, where her work focused on advocating for increases in federal funding for domestic and sexual violence programs and reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act. Previous experiences include working with at-risk youth, which fueled her passion for social policy issues.

Krista received her Master’s degree in Public Policy with a concentration in Social Policy from American University and received a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach.
