Please summarize the reasons you are submitting this
nomination
It is with great pleasure that I am writing this letter to you in
order to accept my nomination for the position of at large
member. I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to serve in
this respected and well-known organization.
In filling this position, I understand that I will be required to
participate in an important governance role acting as the formal
representative of the public in setting strategic direction,
ensuring adequate resources to support the mission, monitoring
impact, and dutifully executing its fiduciary responsibilities.
As a leader I also know that I must support the organization by
contributing my time, talent, and wisdom as an ambassador who
represents the organization in all communities, raising funds and
the organizations’ public profile.
I believe that continuing education and community awareness of
the dynamics of domestic abuse will help reduce the perceptions
of the stigma that cause many victims to suffer in silence.
I am hoping to encourage, support and empowerment, as many
victims as possible to break the cycle of abuse and embark on the
road to recovery.

into the center of our work?
This is what I know, domestic violence can happen to anyone at
any time and impacts individuals of all races and ethnicities,
religions, socio-economic statuses, and gender identities. It
occurs in rural, suburban, and urban communities.
For over 30 years, I have been advocating for children and
victims of domestic violence. As a DV survivor myself, I have
experienced the feelings of shame, guilt, and responsibility
related to being a domestic violence victim. This is why it is so
important that I continue to get involved with this organization
to help educate as many communities as possible that domestic
violence is never the victim’s fault.
This is a personal journey I am willing to take on in my
life.
Thank you for your consideration

Describe your leadership experience in business,
philanthropy, legal, government and nonprofit
sectors.
As a school leader, these were the five key responsibilities I
had to perform on a daily basis:
Shaping a vision of academic success for all students, one based
on high standards.
Creating a climate hospitable to education in order that safety,
a cooperative spirit, and other foundations of fruitful
interaction prevail.
Cultivating leadership in others so that teachers and other
adults assume their part in realizing the school vision.
Improving instruction enable teachers to teach at their best and
students to learn to their utmost.
Managing people, data, and processes to foster school improvement
Board members help to foster a positive image of the
Partnership. Describe relationships you have with business
leaders, policy-makers, media outlets, philanthropists and the
broader community. Tell us how you intend to cultivate those
relationships on behalf of the Partnership.
“Schools are at the forefront of the institutions that need to be
in close relations with the social environment. In this regard,
practices of public relations are prominent. This obligation is
also the responsibility of the school principals, as there are no
public relations units in public schools.” – Adil Coruk
I had many roles as a principal, but one of the biggest roles was
public relations. I was in the public eye, day in and day out. I
was the “public face” of my school, the head cheerleader, and the
crisis manager. I always represented my school, my parents, and
my students with dignity and respect.
Like other nonprofits, Partnership Board members are
expected to raise funds on behalf of the organization. What will
you do to help us meet our annual fundraising goal?
