Date: Wednesday, May 22

Time: 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

Your organization’s work in the community deserves to get noticed—and in particular, funded!  In this session, Jessica Merrill from the Partnership’s Strategic Communications Team will discuss how to get on the radar of local and state policymakers by pitching stories to journalists. We’ll focus on Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funding, but you’ll build skills that are applicable to any of your efforts:

  • How to quickly write emails so journalists will open them and respond
  • How to become journalists’ go-to person for solutions to domestic violence
  • How to create story elements
  • How to develop talking points that urge policymakers’ support
