Describe your participation in the Partnership’s regional networks, policy committees, peer learning circles and other components of our Membership community.

I am an active and engaged participant within the Partnership’s Membership community.. My commitment to advancing the organization’s mission is evident through my consistent involvement in various initiatives.

I participated in the Partnership’s 2023 Policy Advocacy Day, where I joined fellow members in advocating for impactful policy changes that positively affect children and families. This event provided me with valuable insights into the policy-making process, enabling me to contribute informed perspectives and advocate for systemic improvements that align with our mission.

Furthermore, my regular attendance at the Domestic Violence and Housing
First (DVHF) Peer Learning Circle and North Regional meetings underscores my dedication to continuous learning and collaboration. Engaging with peers in this circle allows me to stay abreast of emerging best practices, share experiences, and collectively address challenges related to domestic violence housing first efforts. By actively participating in these learning circles, I contribute to the exchange of knowledge and strategies that ultimately enhance the Partnership’s effectiveness in
tackling critical issues.

Describe how your values are aligned with the values of the Partnership.

The values of the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence (the
Partnership) align closely with my own principles and capabilities. Like the Partnership, I emphasize collaboration and collective action to address complex issues. I share the belief that by working together with diverse stakeholders, we can create a more comprehensive understanding of the underlying factors contributing to domestic violence and develop effective strategies for prevention and healing.

The Partnership’s commitment to public policy, prevention, communications, and capacity building resonates with my multifaceted abilities. I can contribute by providing data-driven insights for informed policy decisions, assisting in communication efforts to raise awareness, generating resources for capacity building, and facilitating discussions that promote system-wide change.

The Partnership’s vision of a California free from domestic violence mirrors my dedication to positive societal impact. I strive to support this vision by offering valuable information, insights, and solutions that contribute to the broader goal of eliminating domestic violence and promoting safety and healing for survivors and their families.

What does leadership mean to you? How do you demonstrate leadership?

Leadership is a multifaceted concept that encompasses the art of inspiring, guiding, and empowering individuals or groups towards a shared vision or objective. It involves setting a positive example through actions and decisions, making informed choices that impact others, and creating an environment where people feel motivated and valued. I demonstrate leadership by offering reliable insights, solutions, and information to aid individuals in making well-informed decisions. I facilitate collaboration by fostering dialogue, encouraging diverse perspectives, and promoting an inclusive atmosphere.

Describe your skills, experience or interests that can benefit, strengthen or increase capacity of the Board.

I bring a wealth of skills, experiences, and interests that can substantially enhance, fortify, and expand the capabilities of the Board. My extensive background in program management, evidenced by my roles in Crisis Advocacy, Shelter Operations, and Outreach, equips me with a proven ability to adeptly strategize, implement, and evaluate initiatives. The strategic planning expertise I demonstrated as apart of the 2023-2026 Strategic Plan Committee at SCH is poised to provide valuable insights for the Board’s long-term goal setting, growth initiatives, and overall organizational sustainability.

Moreover, my well-honed advocacy and community engagement skills, honed through my tenure as an Advocacy Manager at Sierra Community House and Tahoe SAFE Alliance, can significantly bolster the Board’s effectiveness in communicating with stakeholders, championing the organization’s mission, and fostering vital community support. A testament to my partnership cultivation capabilities is my track record of nurturing strong relationships with community organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders, a skill that can magnify the Board’s network,
amplify its outreach, and facilitate impactful collaborations.

Notably, my dedication to equity advancement and diversity, as exemplified by my involvement in fostering inclusion at Sierra Community House and advocating for marginalized communities, resonates strongly with the Board’s commitment to social justice.

My established relationships encompass a diverse spectrum of stakeholders, poised to profoundly enrich the Partnership’s work and empower the Board’s endeavors. Through media outlets, I’ll leverage my connections to amplify the Partnership’s message, raising awareness and garnering support from a broader audience. Moreover, my engagement with culturally specific communities fosters inclusivity, facilitating targeted initiatives that resonate with their unique needs.

To nurture these relationships on behalf of the Partnership, I’ll employ a multi-pronged approach. With policy-makers, I’ll engage in regular dialogues, providing informed insights and data-driven recommendations that underscore the Partnership’s impact. Through media channels, I’ll strategically craft compelling narratives, share success stories, and establish the Partnership as a thought leader in the domestic violence movement. Engaging culturally specific communities demands sensitivity
and respect; I’ll collaborate closely, actively listening to their concerns, co-designing initiatives, and establishing trust through transparent communication.

Like other nonprofits, Partnership Board members are expected to raise funds on behalf of the organization. Describe how you can leverage relationships to enhance the image or capacity of the Partnership (for example, potential donors, business leaders, philanthropists) and how you will help us meet our annual fundraising goal.

I bring a strategic approach to leveraging relationships that can significantly bolster the image and capacity of the Partnership, while also contributing to achieving our annual fundraising goal. My extensive network includes potential donors, influential business leaders, and committed philanthropists.

To enhance the Partnership’s image, I will harness these relationships to convey our impactful work. By engaging with potential donors, I will emphasize the value of their contributions in creating lasting positive change. Leveraging my connections with business leaders, I can explore corporate partnerships and sponsorship opportunities that not only provide financial support but also align with their corporate social responsibility goals, enhancing their reputation while furthering our mission.

In pursuit of our fundraising goal, I will collaborate closely with philanthropists who share our passion. Through personalized engagement, I will articulate our organization’s unique value proposition and the profound impact their support can have. I will assist in crafting compelling fundraising appeals and donor communications that resonate with their philanthropic interests, ultimately increasing their investment in our cause.
