This is a full day workshop that will guide participants through the history of the movement to end gender based violence and a discussion of how it connects to our prevention work.
Participants will encounter a comprehensive history of the movement to end gender based violence in the United States of America. This grounding in history will highlight the multitude of issues faced and navigated by early movement leaders and activists. We will connect with some of the feminist, anti-racist, gender expansive, and disability inclusive approaches and perspectives of early movement leaders. We will also discuss the role of organizations in the movement to end gender based violence within our current social and political context and revisit “the personal is political” feminist approaches with an intersectional lens.
Presenter:
- Darin J. Dorsey (He/Him), Principal/Founder, Rooting Movements
Note:
- ASL interpreters and spoken language access is available upon request (please register by August 23rd to ensure interpreter availability)
