Creating Safe Spaces For Youth Healing – Prevention Peer Network
This month’s Prevention Peer Network Webinar features Eydie
Pasicel, Children and Youth Services Advocate Counselor,
WomenShelter of Long Beach.
Eydie has worked at WSLB with children, teens and caregivers,
victims of domestic violence, since 2010. She works directly with
children and youth in both group sessions and individual
counseling. She employs techniques designed to allow expression
of fear, anger, and sadness in ways that avoid re-traumatizing
the young victims.
Eydie is an alumna from California State University, Long
Beach where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Human
Development, along with a minor in Psychology. She is a presenter
for the state-mandated 40-Hour Domestic Violence Advocate
Training and makes countless presentations to youth and adults to
help them heed the warning signs and focus on healthy
relationships
In this month’s webinar, Eydie will be discussing:
• Creating a safe space in a youth group with the intent of
processing and healing from the violence that has occurred in the
home
• Traditional and embodied art
• Teen dating violence presentations that are taking place in
middle schools, high schools and Long Beach City
College
• Success story of a client after interacting with WomenShelter
staff; showing where he started and where he is now
