Human Trafficking in Rural Communities
The National Human Trafficking Resource Center (NHTRC) responded to over 250 cases of potential trafficking in states with predominantly rural communities in 2014. After looking at the challenges that rural communities face they identified unique strengths which can be used to support potential trafficking victims and at-risk populations. The NHTRC has designed a new tool to address the need for continued education on how to identify human trafficking in rural or isolated areas. The Human Trafficking in Rural Communities webinar provides information and recommendations for strong, protective responses to human trafficking.
